Breathe. Slow down.

We always need the reminder. Things get too hectic.

I keep wanting to write a new blog post but I haven’t had the time to sit down properly and organize my thoughts. So much has been going on. But I’ll start with the most important thing – my hard drive, the one containing all my photography (and no backups), crashed on thursday. I’ve been running around trying to get it fixed, but it’ll take time. So unfortunately, I won’t be able to post anything new for a few days. I’ve also been meaning to shoot the sixth image from the 52 Week Project, but I had a few personal things to deal with and I didn’t get a chance to do it. Here’s an image from my underwater shoot with Larissa. I only have a low-res version of it (thank god I saved it on my phone), but I’ve been really excited to post it!

Tomorrow I head off to Abu Dhabi for the Emirates Photography Competition awards ceremony. I’ve been waiting for over a month to announce this, but I won! Yay. I submitted more than one image so I’m not sure which piece made it, but I’ll definitely write a blog post about it when I’m back. I might end up staying the night and coming back on tuesday to prepare for, drum roll, GPP’s Slidefest. I’ll be presenting some of my work with some amazing locally based photographers. The event will take place at Knowledge Village and it starts at 7pm. I’m super excited, but also very very nervous. I’ve never been a fan of public speaking and tend to avoid it as much as I can. And it’s going to be in an auditorium *gulp*. Wish me luck.

I’ll refrain from rambling about everything else that’s going on at the moment (don’t wanna bore you all), but once I get my hard drive back I’ll be able to get back on track with my photography and hopefully share one of the collab pieces I’ve worked on!
Have a lovely week everyone ❀

I am also waiting to know which piece won and I love this under water image, it is very clear for a low resolution.

  2. Dear Amani,
Congratulations on winning the competition. I am happy for you, because you deserve it!
And I love the picture very much, especially as Lady Lazarus is one of my favourite poems by S.P.. I love how you translated the feeling of the poem into your picture by symbolism.
It makes me feel connected to you, as a few weeks ago I decided to create a picture inspired by this one and “The Hanging Man”… but up to now, I have only sketches in my notebook… time to finally start, right?!
Thank you for your constant inspiration.
    Hugs!
