Whispers of Currents and Waves

I was reading Brooke Shaden’s blog yesterday and I realized something – with everything that’s happened the past few days (the bad stuff), I didn’t break down because I am SO grateful. She wrote an inspiring blog post on gratitude and it helped me feel better about a lot of things.
I’ve been having a difficult time with the hard drive situation because (I CAN FINALLY TELL YOU), I have my first solo exhibition coming up!!
I’ve been dying to tell everyone about this but wasn’t supposed to until everything was finalized. And when my hard drive crashed, it was going to get postponed because I thought there’s no way I’d be able to get my work back in time to have everything printed. It’s not fixed yet, and it’s currently in some clean room in the US with a bunch of insanely smart people working on it (I totally just imagined guys in big nerdy glasses wearing all white in a super clean white room). What I managed to do is download some high res images off 500px. But that’s not it, I’ve been secretly working on a series inspired by random fairytale characters and I’ve been SO excited for you guys to see it! I can’t post it until after the exhibition, so if you’re in the UAE, make sure you pass by! 😀 it’ll be in Pro Art Gallery in Palm Strip, Jumeira on the 14th of June. And if you’re not, you’re gonna have to wait till after the exhibition haha.

I was told that I’m being extremely calm about the hard drive situation and also some issues I had with printing and stuff, and the reason is that SO much good stuff has been happening lately and I couldn’t be more grateful for everything. I feel so blessed.

The 8th image for the 52 Week Project was a challenge. Mainly because I couldn’t get it out of my head that it would have no colors, and also because I felt like I couldn’t think of something super awesome. I was gonna go shoot at the beach but I didn’t have a solid idea so I was almost gonna postpone that until a friend told me to just GO, something is better than nothing. And I’m glad I did because I ended up with this:

Whispers of Currents and Waves

I also made a speed edit video for this! Sorry about the constant zooming in and out. This took a bit over 3 hours so it was a little hard to turn that into 5 minutes :p

I looked at the image again the next day and decided to make some changes but forgot to film that. And again, got the textures from Brooke Shaden’s blog, and the clouds from my friend, TJ.
Next week’s theme iiiiiiis: inspired by a poem.
Ironic, considering how I’m currently back to obsessing over Richard Siken haha. I’m excited for this!

Thank you so much for everything you said, I can’t tell you how much your comments mean to me ❤ you're incredible. And you're absolutely right, once you count your blessings you do end up feeling better.
I'll be posting some pictures from the exhibition by tonight/tomorrow, wish you could be there!
And thank you again, I found out that more than half of it is gone for sure, but I still don't know what's there. I'll find out soon I guess.
